Tega Cay is located just 16 miles from Charlotte's Douglas International Airport and is within distance from the shopping, recreational and cultural amenities offered in the Charlotte area. This area of York County is known for its natural beauty and features winding, tree-lined streets and spectacular views. It is a safe city with a professional police department, lake patrol and volunteer fire and rescue departments that have been acclaimed by state and federal authorities as among the best anywhere.
Volunteer organizations abound, providing a range of activities for all. Among them are a Lions Club, Vintage Clubs, Scouts, Beautification Committee, Golf and Tennis Associations, and more. Tega Cay is served by Fort Mill School District No. 4, one of four school districts within York County. The schools offer students an excellent education. The district is repeatedly ranked as one of the best in the state in a wide range of areas and its students consistently score above their South Carolina peers on both state and national tests.
Winthrop University and York Technical College are both located in Rock Hill, just 20 minutes away. Both are highly respected educational institutions that have earned nationwide recognition.
